  • Community Engagement: Collaborating with schools, community organizations, and stakeholders to create a supportive network for children’s mental well-being.

  • Innovative Programs: Designing and implementing creative programs that utilize visuals, stories, activities, exercises, and questionnaires to make learning about mental health engaging and impactful.
raising awareness about mental health

Join us in Phase-1 as we lay the foundation for a healthier future generation, where mental health is prioritized and understood by all. Together, we can make a difference, one child at a time.

Awareness and Support for All

At Swaadrishya, our first phase is rooted in the vision of making mental health a right, not a privilege. We are focused on addressing the critical gaps in awareness and access, laying a strong foundation for a healthier, more informed society.

Mental Health Awareness

Our mental health awareness initiative operates on two distinct levels: school children and the general community. For school children, we emphasize early intervention by providing engaging and interactive sessions that help young minds understand their emotions, develop coping skills, and navigate challenges. In the broader community, we aim to normalize conversations about mental health, breaking stigmas and empowering individuals to seek support without hesitation.

Affordable Support Services

Parallel to awareness, we are establishing affordable support services to make professional mental health care accessible to all. Whether it’s counseling, therapy, or guidance, we are committed to creating a support system that prioritizes compassion and affordability.

The heart of Phase 1 is bridging the gap between knowledge and action—connecting individuals with the resources they need to prioritize their mental well-being while fostering a culture that values mental health. Through these efforts, we aim to set the stage for a lasting impact in mental health awareness and accessibility.

Issues Faced by Common People

For many individuals in India, accessing mental health support involves navigating several significant challenges.

  • Stigma and Misconceptions: Mental health issues are frequently misunderstood, leading to societal stigma and discrimination. This creates a barrier for individuals to openly discuss their struggles and seek professional help.
  • Limited Accessibility: Mental health services are predominantly located in urban centers, leaving rural and remote areas with minimal access to necessary care. This disparity exacerbates the difficulties faced by those in underserved regions.
  • Economic Barriers: The high costs associated with mental health treatment and the limited availability of insurance coverage pose financial obstacles. Many individuals are deterred from seeking help due to the expense.
  • Lack of Awareness: There is a widespread lack of awareness regarding mental health symptoms and available support services. This ignorance often prevents individuals from recognizing their own needs or seeking appropriate assistance.
  • Marginalized Populations: Individuals from marginalized communities or hard-to-reach areas face compounded challenges in accessing mental health services. These challenges include social stigma, economic constraints, and inadequate local resources, leading to inconsistent use of available services.

  • Policy and Resource Gaps: Despite efforts by the Government to improve mental health services, significant gaps remain. Many states lack a comprehensive mental health policy or state-level action plans. Existing mental health programs are often stand-alone initiatives rather than integrated with other health and welfare programs. Additionally, resources for mental health are still limited, and capacity-building and human resource development programs are insufficient.
