Breaking Free from My Past

Being bullied in school for having a wheatish complexion made my growing years extremely difficult. It shattered my self-confidence and self-esteem, pushing me into an introverted personality where I hesitated to try anything new. Over time, this lack of confidence turned into hyper-aggressive behavior—self-harm, breaking things, and lashing out became my way of coping.

Entering college was another challenge. Making friends felt impossible because of my aggression, and I struggled to adapt. However, by the end of my first year, things began to change. I was fortunate to have amazing psychology faculty who not only guided me but also provided counseling and support, helping me navigate my emotions. With their help, I slowly started participating in new activities, which rebuilt my confidence step by step.

It took time, patience, and self-work, but I finally overcame my past. Looking back, I feel grateful for the journey it led me to healing and a stronger version of myself.
