The First Time Someone Listened

I had so much to say but no words to say it. Every time I tried, my throat tightened, my mind went blank, and I convinced myself it wasn’t important anyway. No one had ever really listened before—why would this time be any different?

But that day, they did. They didn’t interrupt. They didn’t tell me to “move on” or “be strong.” They just listened. And in that moment, something shifted.

Maybe healing isn’t always about having the right words. Sometimes, it starts with someone simply hearing you. That’s therapy for me!
